My husband and I have been in Myrtle Beach off and on for the past six weeks. I have seen some advertisements for early bird specials at the Aspen Grille (5101 N. Kings Hwy) so we decided to give it a try this evening. It was definitely first class all the way. We went specifically for the early bird specials but were stunned by the elegance of the restaurant and the professionalism of the staff. Their early bird menu runs to 6pm Monday thru Saturday. There are three entries at $7.99 each plus a number of other entries on the special early menu ranging to $14.95. Salad or soup are extra. Their regular menu runs more in the $15. to $25. per entree range. My husband had the prime ground sirloin with cheese mashed potatoes and asparagus ($7.99) and I had the chicken marsala (same price) over pasta. Both dishes were excellent. My husband had a glass of wine which was more than the cost of the entree. Place settings were beautiful. Water glasses were constantly refilled. Background music was old standards. As we were leaving a pianist began playing. According to the hostess their is someone playing the piano every evening. The hostess was very gracious. The fresh loaf of bread and premium butter were excellent. We declined dessert but when bringing our bill the waiter brought two homemade chocolate truffles on a plate. He told us the restaurant has been under its current ownership for about two years. On Tuesday nights they have $12.95 prime rib night. Wednesday night is 1/2 price wine by the glass night. Glasses of wine started about $7.00. I am putting this review in the Fine Dining Section because this would definitely be a great restaurant for a special occasion. We went there for a reasonable meal and to see what the place was like but it is one of the nicest restaurants I have been to in recent years.
