Captain John's Seafood Grill
"A Seafood Feast at Neighborhood Prices"
Location:
Hwy 17S toward Georgetown
3 miles past Brookgreen Gardens, enter Pawleys Island/Litchfield.
Captain John's is on right, just past Mayor's House in the Indigo Exchange Plaza.
Wally and I had dinner at Captain John's on March 6th when we were invited to a birthday dinner for friends. We had never been to Captain John's, but we were told it's a local favorite in the Pawley's area. "Their seafood is delivered fresh 6 days a week, the prices are reasonable and take our word for it...you will love it" they said.
When we entered the restaurant we were faced with a "family restaurant" decor. There is no "wow" factor here, The booths had a "kitchen view" rather than the "Marshwalk view" which many visitors have come to associate with Murrells Inlet restaurants.
Our waitress, Donna, was friendly and efficient. She materialized exactly when you needed her, and was undaunted by a dozen people, each requesting a different drink.
Wally and I both had wonderful seafood meals at about half the price we would have paid at a Marshwalk restaurant. But of course we had to sacrifice the Inlet view.
As we left the restaurant, I paused to speak to two women at a nearby booth. "I hope we didn't disturb you too much," I said. "Oh no" she replied. "We love Captain John's! We live in Columbia and we come here for dinner at least once a month."
Here's Captain John himself, cutting the birthday cake:

So if you are in the Murrells Inlet/Litchfirld area, and you don't want to pay Marshwalk prices, you can find excellent food for both lunch and dinner at reasonable prices at Captain John's.
