Here's a lilnk to all the local piers. At the bottom of the page is a list of the fish that are usually running during the listed months. You'll also find a helpful link to the SC Dept. of Natural Resources:

Hope you'll have a wonderful vacation!

Also, The Sun News publishes regular reports (from Gregg Holshouser of our state DNR) for all kinds of fishing in the area - usually including anything noteworthy at piers.

Here is a quote from the current report, with a highlight about activity at the 2nd Ave Pier, and the link to it:

"...The instances of low levels of dissolved oxygen just off the surf haven't been as severe as last week but catches of flounder, pompano and whiting still appear unusually good for late August. 2nd Ave. Pier reported at least 70 flounder were caught Thursday while several of the piers noted that live bait such as finger mullet and mud minnows continue to die on the bottom. In addition, Cherry Grove Pier, where an 8-pound, 14-ounce black drum was caught Thursday, reports flounder and black drum were seen swimming near the surface. Spanish, blues, sheepshead, spots, spadefish and croakers also have been landed on the piers this week. Mullet also were spotted swimming south on Thursday..."

Regarding advice on whats biting and techniques, rigs and baits, etc - the staff at the shops at any given pier, plus other persons fishing, are usually quite helpful about those things.
